By: Hinesh Mistry, CH2M Global Technology Leader – BIM

Hinesh will present on “Driving Change through BIM—the Government Approach,” at Utility Week Live 2016, on Wednesday, May 18, from 1-2:15 p.m.

Water is one of the major topics being discussed at this year’s Utility Week Live taking place in Birmingham, England, and many of the United Kingdom’s key water innovators, game changers and industry leaders will be speaking on various topics throughout the two day show.

As part of a panel, I will be presenting during the seminar “Driving Transformational Change with BIM”—which will examine the challenges and opportunities facing the water industry and show how BIM can benefit delivery processes and add value to asset management. In my presentation, I will explore what BIM, standardization and offsite manufacture mean for quality, efficiency, health and safety and collaborative working, as well as the challenges of their implementation.

I will be reviewing the BIM level 2 mandate from the UK government and how we working in partnership with the Environment Agency over the preceding years to develop a good understanding of BIM and the changes we can make to better handle information across multiple projects. Karen Alford, the Environment Agency BIM Lead, will co-present with myself to outline what a client needs to consider when making transformational changes in a large organization. I will be presenting the effect that BIM has had from a supplier perspective and the positive realization that standardization has had on our projects and the challenges that we have overcome. Together this will be a compelling insight into how clients can drive transformational change in an industry with BIM. This will be valuable knowledge for anyone wanting to understand how BIM can make a positive impact on your existing and future projects.
