CH2M HILL is proud to be a Gold Sponsor of this year’s American Water Summit in Houston, Texas, hosted by Global Water Intelligence, from October 23-24. The theme of this year’s event, Smashing Silos, has a strong emphasis on energy—highlighting North America’s water energy strategy. Attendees will discuss five key issues and opportunities including water, finance, cities, energy, and technology.

The American Water Summit is taking place in Houston, Texas, this week. The event will bring together top leaders and experts from water, energy technology, cities, and finance to think critically about the water business in North America and our path forward to achieve our water energy strategy.

I am looking forward to networking with attendees and speaking on the panel, “Water, Cities & Business: Managing Growth & Volatility”, on Thursday, October 23, from 2-3:30 p.m. Joined by other representatives from the water industry, we will discuss how cities can take bold action to develop new water resources and the importance of exploring innovative municipal industrial partnerships, as well as creative financing sources to fund infrastructure projects. We will also touch upon the impact changes to our environment can have on our future, as we identify solutions to ensure that we don’t have too much or too little water.

CH2M HILL’s Upstream General Manager Becky Tomasek will also be attending the event and moderating the panel, “Water & Energy: Planning For The Future”, from 5-6 p.m. Becky will lead panelists through a valuable dialogue on the energy industry’s need for more water. Representatives from downstream, upstream and regulatory sectors, including Larry Ryan, Business President Energy and Water Solutions from Dow; David Martin, Cabinet Secretary – Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources Department of New Mexico; Kenneth Nichols, Water Management Coordinator—U.S. Division, Devon Energy; and Josh Adler, Founder & CEO, Sourcewater, Inc. will participate. The panel will generate a lot of good conversation on the growing water demands in the energy sector; how energy companies are keeping up with rising water demands, and the immediate technology, solutions, investment, and cross-sector partnerships maintain a healthy bottom line.

If you are not attending this year’s Summit, I would encourage you to follow the highlights from Houston on Twitter, using the hashtag #WaterSummitHouston. Be sure to follow @CH2MHILL and @USAWATERSUMMIT for live updates.
