Next week the American Water Works Association’s Annual Conference and Exposition will be on CH2M HILL’s home turf in Denver, Colorado. As always, ACE presents an exciting and unique opportunity for attendees and participants to gain insight into new technologies, theories and water treatment strategies while nurturing membership in a community of professionals focused on bringing safe, clean accessible water to communities across the globe. It feels good. And it should. Engaging in this event and with this organization represents a commitment not only to our professions and our clients, but also to the greater good of the global community. At CH2M HILL, this effect resonates with our corporate culture, our core values, and the spirit and dedication of our employee-owners.

The Denver area is home to CH2M HILL’s worldwide headquarters, and we regularly host and participate in a broad range of activities geared towards raising awareness of and promoting issues impacting access to potable water. ACE also offers us an opportunity to engage with our community partner Water For People, a nonprofit international development organization that supports sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene education projects in developing countries. If you are in town Sunday, June 9, we hope you join us for the Water For People Festival for Water from 4-9:00 PM at Civic Center Park, with music, food and beverages, which will be a great time and we are proud to sponsor.

Throughout the week, our professionals will be disseminating new information through dozens of critical presentation activities at the conference and participation on committees, divisions and councils. As AWWA President Charlie Anderson has stated, ACE 13 “is an opportunity to get the targeted training you need, experience all the technology available to help you do your work, and consult with peers from throughout the world.” CH2M HILL is certainly doing our part in fulfilling this goal! See a list of all of CH2M HILL’s ACE13 activities and presentations.

We will also be present at the ACE Career Fair on June 11 and, as always, look forward to meeting the industry’s new  and top talent. It is important to take time to chat with these folks and exchange ideas, as they represent the future of our industry. In that spirit of professional mentorship, Elisa Speranza, President of CH2M HILL’s Operations Management Business Group and Executive Sponsor for Sustainability, will be presenting a workshop entitled, Top Ten Skills You Will Need To Be a Future Water Industry Leader, as part of the Investing in Your Career Young Professional Leadership Workshop, geared specifically for young professionals. Finally, our own Lawrence Benjamin, Brad Phelps and Tom Walters will be honored as recipients of the AWWA Fuller Award at the award breakfast on June 12.

So stay tuned to Access Water for more updates from us as the week progresses and make sure to check out our water focused social media channels, including CH2M HILL - Water on Facebook (facebook.com/ch2mhillwater) and the @Access_Water Twitter feed.
