Steph discusses the importance of developing EcoDistricts, creating behavior change in the public, and the District of Columbia's GreenUP website that CH2M HILL is about to help launch to the public.

Earlier this year, CH2M HILL was invited by Oregon’s Portland Sustainability Institute to participate and join a team of other Oregon sustainability leaders to create a submittal for the Living City Design Competition which reflects Oregon’s most progressive thinking in sustainable urban design. Steph Stoppenhagen, CH2M HILL Sustainability Strategist Lead and Client Service Manager, led the team in creating a compelling and technically achievable vision of a truly sustainable city through the design of "EcoDistricts" in Portland.

With support from an Urban Sustainability Director’s Network grant, CH2M HILL and subcontractor Portland Sustainability Institute worked with a pack of cities from across the U.S. to complete the sustainability framework and report, ‘North American EcoDistricts Program – Research and Program Design.’ Steph Stoppenhagen, CH2M HILL Sustainability Strategist and Client Service Manager, shares as well as discusses the final report and how the EcoDistricts Initiative focuses on removing implementation barriers and creating an enabling strategy to accelerate neighborhood-scale sustainability to a district-wide scale.
