CH2M HILL's Paul Swaim completes his role as IUVA President and shares highlights from his time in office. During the IUVA/IOA World Congress held in Las Vegas last month, Paul passed the torch to Dr. Karl Linden.
Paul Swaim of CH2M HILL discusses his paper that will be presented at WEFTEC about the large-scale, fast-track design of the Calumet Water Reclamation Plant in Chicago. At 480 million gallon per day (MGD) peak flow, the chlorination/dechlorination systems will be among the largest in North America.
Lessons Learned During Installation and Start-up of Municipal Drinking Water UV Disinfection Facilities
Implementation of UV disinfection in the municipal drinking water industry has grown rapidly in the last decade. Despite the widespread use of UV disinfection and the dissemination of best practices, installation and start-up of UV facilities can still pose unique challenges to water utilities. The unfamiliarity with the technology and compressed project timelines can further exasperate these challenges. Todd Elliott and Paul Swaim will share valuable tips during the IUVA-IOA World Congress in Las Vegas.
Medium-pressure (MP) ultraviolet (UV) disinfection systems for drinking water have been installed and successfully operated for more than a decade. In fact, as of 2009 it was reported that more than 100 UV disinfection installations were in operation across North America. During the American Water Works Association's Water Quality Technology Conference this week, CH2M HILL's Paul Swaim and Todd Elliott will discuss a number of critical issues that must be understood and addressed to ensure successful implementation of these types of systems. In particular, they will share examples of how CH2M HILL has been working side-by-side with our colleagues to make sure we all understand new medium-pressure, low-wavelength issues. Get initial insight from Swaim and Elliott in the latest Access Water.
Paul Swaim, CH2M HILL Global Technology Leader for Water Treatment, shares insight into and key information from "Selecting Disinfectants in a Security-Conscious Environment," an American Water Works Association guide which provides a framework to evaluate disinfection alternatives used in water, wastewater and reuse utilities.
Paul Swaim, CH2M HILL Global Technology Leader for Water Treatment, provides insight into the EPA Ultraviolet Disinfection Webinar, which was designed to help assist state regulators in the review of UV disinfection validation test reports for water treatment plants to ensure compliance with new regulations.
